Ease of Doing Business Critical for Wireless Satisfaction: Report

With only 9 problems for every 100 uses, the nation’s wireless network continues to provide consistent service across all providers, according to a new report from J.D. Power.
The company’s latest report — the 2026 U.S. Wireless Network Quality Performance Study, Volume 1 — is based on responses from 20,050 wireless customers and shows that all regions of the country had strong wireless network performance.
The press release about the report noted that, “Wireless carrier satisfaction and loyalty are strongly linked to perceptions of ease of doing business.”
Along with evaluating the network quality experienced by customers with wireless phones, the study also measured the network performance of tablets and mobile broadband devices.
“Despite generational differences in the types of problems experienced, one thing is clear: wireless network quality is strong,” Carl Lepper, J.D. Power senior director of technology, media and telecom, said in a prepared statement.
“Younger consumers continue to push network limits through streaming and video calls, yet the industry has responded with resilience. Major carriers are delivering consistent performance, keeping the average overall problems per 100 uses steady at or below 9 over the past year.”
Among the largest carriers in the country, Verizon and T-Mobile had the best performances by region. Verizon’s score of 6 problems per 100 uses in the North Central region was the best performance by any carrier in any region. Verizon Wireless performance in the North Central region was by UScellular with 7 problems per 100 uses. T-Mobile ranked third with 8 problems per 100 uses.
Verizon and T-Mobile tied for the top spot in the Northeast, West and Mid-Atlantic regions. In the Northeast and West, they each had a score of 9. In the Mid-Atlantic, they each had a score of 8.
T-Mobile was the top carrier in each of the other two regions. T-Mobile had a score of 8 Southeast region, while AT&T and Verizon Wireless each had scores of 9. T-Mobile’s 8 was better than Verizon Wireless’ 9 in the Southwest.
