AI is Changing the Way We Build Networks
Artificial intelligence (AI) continues to dominate conversations in broadband in 2025. While the technology has existed in some form in telecom devices for years, what has created much of the recent buzz is the evolution of generative AI, foundation models, and edge AI that allow telecom providers to reason, automate, and generate insights at scale.
In late 2024, nearly half of broadband providers surveyed by global consulting firm Altman Solon said they expected spending on AI to continue its rapid climb through 2025 and 2026. Analysts now predict global telecom AI investment could surpass $12 billion by the end of 2025, a six-fold increase compared to 2023.
